Students from Village Elementary will take part in the 20th Annual International Walk or Bike to School Day.
Walkers and bicyclists will make their way to the Village Elementary gymnasium by 7:40 a.m. for a special presentation. Representatives from Safe Place, the Georgetown Fire Department, Georgetown Utility Systems, and the Georgetown Police Department will also be at the event to provide information on safety when walking or biking to school.
Walk or Bike to School Day events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking and bicycling, and emphasize the importance of increasing physical activity among children, raising awareness about pedestrian safety, and easing traffic congestion.
