Georgetown ISD officially opened the doors on George Wagner Middle School, November 27. Hundreds of Mitchell students greeted Wagner students in a bus caravan from old Williams Elem, where they had been meeting since the beginning of the school year. The ceremony included escorts; Superintendent Dr. Fred Brent, school board members, Georgetown fire and police and others in the community. The opening ceremony was held in the gym where the school’s namesake, George Wagner, was recognized and thanked for his decades of service to the students of GISD. Dr. Brent assured the students, “My job is to serve you and what’s going to make this place great is you! We believe in you and we hope you love it.”
